Cellcom has raised prices on the high-speed Internet and charges for the router

Posted on Jun 26, 2021 by Ifi Reporter

The trend of rising prices for fiber optics continues: Cellcom has raised prices on the high-speed Internet and started to charge for a router: NIS 25 per month, compared to zero shekels so far. The price of 600 MB speed in Cellcom Fiber packages increased by NIS 5 per month: from NIS 119 per month, to NIS 99 per month + a monthly payment of NIS 25 per router. Total - NIS 124 per month, an increase of 4%. The price of a 1 GB speed increased by NIS 19 per month, from NIS 125 per month to NIS 119 + NIS 25 per month, ie NIS 144 per month - an increase of about 15%.
There is a special offer for joining via the Internet: NIS 114 per month for a 600% discount of 4% and NIS 134 per month for 1 GB. As for Giga - it is still a 7% increase in price. At these prices it is still slightly cheaper than Partner and definitely cheaper than Bezeq and HOT.
In a small number of cases, consumers have their own router, and sometimes it is a better quality router. So the company does not charge for a router and it is supposed to provide consumers with a component that connects the router to the fiber.
Cellcom is not alone in rising prices. In early July, Partner raised the prices at which it markets fiber optics to consumers by 20% -11%. For a speed of 660 MB, the price increased from NIS 110 per month (including a router at NIS 20 double 36 months) to NIS 120 per month and for a speed of 1 GB from NIS 120 per month (including a router) to NIS 140 per month.
Earlier, Unlimited raised prices by starting to charge installation fees similar to Bezeq, which introduced this payment in the industry. Unlimited collects the payment from Internet providers that sell its Internet infrastructure (on which Cellcom and HOT also operate) and these began to roll it out to consumers, thus raising prices. For example, Telzer charges a set-up cost of NIS 12 per month for 36 payments: NIS 432. You can get a discount of NIS 32 if you pay the cost in one payment.
Bezeq is the company that jumped prices in the market when it launched its packages at NIS 184-174 per month for 600 MB and 1 GB and for the first time introduced a connection cost of NIS 25 per month for 36 months (or NIS 12.5 per month in the launch campaign). This week it launched even more expensive packages: 2.5 GB speed starting at NIS 200 per month (or NIS 107 per month for three months) and fiber to another room in the house plus NIS 20 per month for packages.
HOT is the only company so far to lower prices. The company has dramatically reduced installation fees and changed the collection model. Until recently, it charged an installation fee of NIS 7.90 per month in 36 payments - a total of NIS 284.4, the launch price, which was supposed to rise to NIS 14.90 per month in 36 months, a total of NIS 539.5. Instead, it switched to a model of One-time payment for installation: only NIS 49. This is more than what Cellcom and Partner charge for installation: zero shekels, but it is a discount of up to 90%.
