Ministry of Transportation started to operate "People's Price List"

The Ministry of Transportation started today (Sunday) the "People's Price List" - an Internet system that allows you to check the real market price of various used vehicles. In the system, you can check prices according to different characteristics of the vehicle: model, manufacturer, year of manufacture, engine type and other characteristics.
Today, the prices of used vehicles in Israel are determined almost exclusively by one price list, which does not always represent the actual price paid. "Price list for the people" is supposed to be a cooperative and free vehicle database, based on updated truth data.
The price list is based on a voluntary report by car owners in the last six months, sellers and buyers, who have made car ownership transfers by mail or online. According to the Ministry of Transportation, the information provided remains anonymous, without identification with a specific vehicle or transaction, and is not passed on to any external party, but only for the purpose of establishing the price list. The ministry claims that in the last six months, thousands of reports have been collected from car owners who have updated on the transaction price, vehicle type, year of entry, finish level, gearbox (automatic or manual), engine volume, current mileage (mileage) of the vehicle, number of hands and types ownership.
Professionals in the Traffic Administration at the Ministry of Transportation, in collaboration with statistical consultants, analyzed the data, and formulated an up-to-date price list accordingly. While there are private systems of companies offering similar services, the purpose of government service is to provide a reliable source of information that is free of charge, and the real market price of used vehicles.
The Ministry of Transportation stated that the price list may contribute to a reduction in insurance premiums, which are currently priced on the basis of a private price list that does not faithfully represent the market price. In Israel, more than 800,000 transactions are made each year for the sale of a used car. Buying a car is the second highest expense in households in Israel, after buying an apartment.
