Increase in fuel prices for the fifth month in a row: will increase to NIS 6.04 per lite

Posted on Mar 30, 2021 by Ifi Reporter

Again an increase in fuel prices, for the fifth month in a row: at midnight between Wednesday and Thursday (31.03.2021-4.4.2021) the maximum price per liter of unleaded 95 octane gasoline per consumer at the self-service station (including VAT) will increase to NIS 6.04 per liter 5 cents from the previous month. The supplement for full service will be 21 cents per liter (including VAT), without change from the previous month.
The maximum price for a liter of 95-octane gasoline without lead for the consumer at a self-service station in Eilat (excluding VAT) will not exceed NIS 5.16 per liter, an increase of 4 cents from the previous month. The supplement for full service will be 18 cents per liter (excluding VAT) Change from previous month.
The relatively "slight" rise in prices of five cents in April joins the upward trend in fuel prices in December, January, February and March, which amounted to 65 cents per liter. Anyone who fills one container a week finds that in an annual calculation such an increase will amount to about NIS 145 per month, and about NIS 1,740 for an entire year. For those who travel a lot and fill 6 fuel tanks a month, the annual price increase reaches NIS 2,600 a year, a considerable amount compared to fuel prices last November.
The continuing rise in fuel prices in Israel is making it very difficult for more than three million private car owners, who pay for the fuel in their vehicles, and for tens of thousands more jobs that pay for their employees' fuel.
The fear was that the continued closure of the Suez Canal due to the container ship stuck for another two to three weeks would cause the price of fuel in the Mediterranean basin to rise by another 5% next month. It is now estimated that there will be no increase in prices due to the closure of the canal for only six days.
Israel is at the top of the world in fuel prices, with an average price of $ 1,816 per liter. Among the few countries where a liter of fuel is more expensive than in Israel are countries such as Sweden, Italy, Finland, Greece, Denmark, Norway, the Netherlands and the Republic of Central Africa. Hong Kong is at the top of the list of expensive countries with fuel consumption, where the price reaches $ 2,424.
Meanwhile, in more than 160 countries the price of fuel is cheaper than in Israel. It is especially worth refilling a liter of fuel in oil-producing countries - Venezuela with a price of $ 0.02 per liter, Iran with $ 1,061 per liter, followed by Angola, Algeria, Kuwait, Sudan, Kazakhstan, Qatar, Turkmenistan, Nigeria, Ecuador, UAE, Kyrgyzstan, Malaysia , Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Bahrain, Ethiopia and Egypt.
