eBay is planning to cease all operations in Israel by the first quarter of 2026, Calcalist has learned. The company notified its employees of the decision this morning, marking the final chapter for eBay's research and development center in Netanya, which currently employs over 200 people.

The move follows several rounds of layoffs in recent years, during which eBay cut most of its marketing and sales staff and shuttered multiple development projects within the Israeli branch.

From High-Potential Entry to Full Exit

eBay began its operations in Israel in 2005, with the $620 million acquisition of price comparison site Shopping.com. It later acquired the Israeli startup Gift Project, though financial details were never disclosed. The Netanya R&D center had since served as a hub for innovation, product development, and engineering for the e-commerce giant.
