June: 3.7% increase in total credit card purchases compared to May

In June, there was a 3.7% increase in total credit card purchases, compared to May, and an 8.7% increase in credit card purchases compared to the corresponding month in 2019. These data refer to the total amount of purchases in businesses, as reported by three credit card companies - Isracard , ICC and Max, and refer to purchases by Israelis in Israel only. The data reflect an increase in the use of credit cards at the expense of other means of payment - due to the decrease in accessibility to businesses, along with an increase in purchases or prices - depending on the relevant industry.
The data shows a 2.1% increase in food and beverage purchases - including orders and food services, compared with May, and a 9.6% increase in this industry compared to June 2019. A 6% increase compared to May was recorded in the products and services industry (including fuel, electricity and gas, computers and software, equipment and services Transport and communications, books, advertising, medical and pharmaceutical services and miscellaneous), which reflects an increase of 17.9% compared to June 2019, and in the industry purchases of industrial products (including clothing and footwear, electrical and electronics, and furniture), a decrease of 1.8% compared to May, and an increase of 15.8% In relation to June 2019.
