Histadrut plans declare a labor dispute because of it's long shutdown

Arkia's prolonged shutdown is escalating the company's labor relations. Avi Edri, chairman of the Histadrut's Transportation Workers' Union, appealed to the Coordination and Execution Committee to immediately declare a labor dispute.
The granting of the loan is conditional on the Nakash brothers' waiver of an owner loan of NIS 50 million provided to the company, in order to strengthen its capital structure, and the provision of a guarantee of $ 7 million that has not yet been provided by the brothers.
Procrastination in obtaining the loan prevents Arkia from returning to regular flight operations to Eilat. 450 Arkia employees, who also own 30% of the company's shares through Tut, fear that the Nakash brothers plan to sell the company's assets, such as planes or hotels.
Arkia owns the Hood Hotel in the Dead Sea, which it purchased in 2011 for NIS 130 million from Psagot Investment House, and also owns a hotel in Amsterdam.
The Nakash brothers demanded as a condition for waiving the owner's loan to Arkia that the company's employees waive their rights in the two hotels owned by the company.
In addition to the hotels, Arkia also owns three Ambrair aircraft and leases an Airbus A321 Neo aircraft and another Ambrayer aircraft whose lease term will end in September 2020 and is expected to return to the leasing company. According to estimates, the Nakash brothers are not interested in returning the company to regular activity for fear of being required to repay its debts. These amount to NIS 100 million.
Arkia employees, who have been on unpaid leave for four months, fear that the Nakash brothers have given up on the company and are not interested in returning it to activity due to its ongoing losses. This concern is based, among other things, on the experience of Avi Hurmero, chairman of Arkia and a representative of the Nakash brothers, during a board meeting in early April 2020. The meeting was supposed to dissolve the company, but was canceled under pressure from its employees and the Histadrut.
Edri mentioned at the time that the dissolution of the company requires a majority of 75% of the members of the board of directors, and since the company's employees hold 30% of its shares, there is no chance that a majority will be found for such a decision.
Markie said in response: "The company is working to get through the caravan crisis successfully despite the many challenges that exist and is making every effort to run the company as soon as possible."
