Posted on Jul 7, 2025 by Ifi Reporter - Dan Bielski
The Tel Aviv District Police and the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) have completed their investigation into Or Beilin, a 27-year-old Tel Aviv resident, who is suspected of carrying out espionage activities on behalf of an Iranian entity. Authorities announced that a prosecutor’s statement has been filed at the Tel Aviv Magistrate’s Court today (Monday), signaling the intention to file a serious indictment in the coming days.
According to the findings of the joint police-Shin Bet investigation, Beilin had been in ongoing contact with Iranian operatives over several months. He allegedly conducted surveillance operations under their instructions, including:
-
Photographing the homes of elected Israeli officials
-
Documenting Israeli military bases
-
Spraying graffiti as part of propaganda activity
The investigation also revealed that Beilin received several thousand dollars in cryptocurrency as payment for his activities.
Digital Evidence Seized in Police Raid
On June 22, 2025, detectives from the Tel Aviv District Police Fraud Unit raided Beilin's residence. During the search, they seized digital media and computers that were allegedly used to maintain contact with Iranian handlers.
Beilin has remained in custody since his arrest, with his detention extended periodically by the court. With the investigation now concluded, authorities intend to file both a formal indictment and a request for detention until the end of proceedings in the coming days.
Agencies Warn of Foreign Recruitment Attempts
In a joint statement, the Israel Police and the Shin Bet emphasized the growing threat posed by foreign intelligence and terrorist organizations, particularly Iran, who are attempting to recruit Israelis via social media to carry out missions inside Israel.
“These elements are actively working to recruit Israeli citizens for espionage and terror-related missions,” the statement read.
“We call on the public to be vigilant and to immediately report any suspicious contact or requests made by foreign entities.”
The agencies reiterated their commitment to prosecute all individuals involved in such security offenses and urged the public not to engage with unknown or suspicious foreign contacts.
