Rami Levy Tops Survey as Cheapest Chain for Meat and Poultry Ahead of Rosh Hashanah

As Israeli families begin preparing for Rosh Hashanah, a new survey by the Geocartography Institute reveals where consumers believe they’ll find the most affordable meat and poultry prices this holiday season.

Topping the list is the Rami Levy supermarket chain, with 32% of respondents naming it as the most affordable. The Osher Ad chain follows in second place with 20%, while Yochananoff ranks third at 9%.

Haredi Public Prefer Rami Levy and Osher Ad

The survey, which included a national sample of 500 Israeli adults aged 18 and over, also highlighted differences among sectors of the population—particularly the religious and ultra-Orthodox (Haredi) public.

Among these groups:

• 37% chose Rami Levy as the most affordable chain

• 26% chose Osher Ad

• 8% cited Yesh Chesed

These results reflect shopping preferences in communities where large family sizes and high food costs make price sensitivity especially critical during holiday preparations.

Holiday Shopping Reflects Consumer Price Awareness

The findings come at a time when Israeli households are increasingly price-conscious, especially when it comes to meat and poultry — two of the most expensive components of the traditional Rosh Hashanah meal.

The Geocartography Institute’s survey, conducted in late August 2025, provides a snapshot of public perception rather than price comparisons based on receipts or audits. Still, it serves as an indicator of brand trust and consumer behavior in the lead-up to one of the biggest food-shopping periods of the year.
