PCs (PCs) enjoyed sales growth in the second quarter of 2020 not only in the world but also in Israel. The increase in demand was caused by the fact that more people had to work from home.
According to Gartner Research, PC sales reached 64.8 million units in the second quarter of 2020 - up 2.8% year-over-year. According to IDC data, which also includes workstations, personal computer sales climbed 11.2% in the second quarter to 72.3 million.
"Awakened demand due to the move to work from home and distance learning needs led to a large increase in sales forecasts and put the PC back at the center of the technology acquisition shopping cart," said Jitch Urbani, director of mobile device research at IDC. "It remains to be seen whether demand and high levels of use will remain even during the recession and in the post-Corona virus world in light of declining budgets and reopening of schools and workplaces."
According to IDC, more than 18.1 million HP computers were sold (+ 3.53% 16.99), and it was the largest company in the world in the second quarter with a 25% market share, compared to a 23.6% market share in the second quarter of 2019. Lenovo lost its maker title The world's largest personal computer - and sold 17.4 million units with a market share of 24.1%. Dell reached a market share of 16.6%, followed by Apple with 7.7%, and Acer with 6.7%. Other computer makers reached a market share of 19.8%.
