Minister of Economics Eli Cohen visits Georgia

Minister of Economics and Industry Eli Cohen left Wednesday for a two-day visit to Georgia with a business delegation.
During the visit, the Minister will meet with the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Dimitry Kumsishvili, and will discuss various ways to strengthen the economic relations between the two countries Minister Kommishvili serves as Deputy Prime Minister of Georgia and heads one of the strongest ministries Minister Cohen met with his colleague last March, during the visit of the Georgian minister to the head of a delegation of government officials, including the Director General of the Georgian Partnership Fund, the head of investments in Enterprise Georgia and the Director General of the Georgian Agency for Innovation and Technology.
Minister Cohen will participate with his Georgian counterpart in a business seminar in which Israeli and Georgian companies presented their activities and held a discussion on business activity between the two countries. Minister Cohen is also expected to sign, together with the Georgian minister, a "joint declaration" on the opening of a feasibility study for negotiations on a free trade area agreement between the two countries.
Minister Cohen will participate as a guest of honor in a major event to mark the 70th anniversary of Israel's independence. Senior Georgian government officials are expected to attend the event, including Georgian Prime Minister Georgi Koirikashvili, Georgian Parliament Speaker, MPs, ministers, diplomatic staff and representatives of the Jewish and Israeli community in Georgia.
Minister of Economy and Industry, Eli Cohen: "The current visit is another step in strengthening the good relations between Israel and Georgia and is a continuation of the successful visit of Minister Kommishvili to Israel. I am very pleased to see that the visit has been joined by Israeli companies interested in the Georgian business, and we have also responded positively to the requests from the Georgian representative who is interested in learning and being exposed to the unique eco-system of innovation offered by Israel.
