The Field Workers’ Organization, which unites 300 agricultural growers across 2 million dunams — representing nearly 50% of Israel’s total agricultural land — has significantly expanded its professional training efforts in early 2025.
Between January and June, the organization conducted 10 training seminars and courses for approximately 230 farmers, both new and experienced, aimed at strengthening Israel’s agricultural workforce and modernizing farming practices.
Diverse Training Topics Address Industry Needs
The organization’s training program covered a wide range of key agricultural topics, including:
-
Drone applications in agriculture
-
Irrigation systems and water efficiency
-
Meteorology and climate impacts
-
Agricultural mechanization and modern equipment
-
Basics of agriculture for new entrants
-
Plant protection and pest control
-
Vegetable crop management
-
Foreign labor in agriculture
These sessions were specifically designed to respond to evolving technological, environmental, and workforce challenges in the agricultural sector.
Strategic Partnerships Strengthen Outreach
David Levy, CEO of the Field Workers’ Organization, emphasized the importance of partnerships in expanding training initiatives:
“In addition to the seminar days and courses, we are actively collaborating with the Sderot Municipality, the Ofakim Innovation Center, the Ministry of Labor, the Ministry of Economy, and the Tzurim Association. We're also exploring new partnerships with Tel Hai College, the Joint Development Corporation, and the national 'Equal Employment' program to provide opportunities for people with disabilities within agriculture.”
A Vision for the Future of Israeli Farming
The Field Workers’ Organization has declared that one of its main missions is to promote professional training in agriculture, both to enhance the skills of existing farmers and to cultivate a new generation of agricultural professionals in Israel.
Through this multifaceted approach, the organization hopes to ensure the long-term resilience and innovation of Israeli agriculture, especially as the industry faces global environmental shifts and local labor shortages.
