Reuven Krupik was elected chairman of Bank Hapoalim. Krupik was elected to the post after the bank chairman Oded Eran passed away last week. Krupik was appointed interim chairman after a few weeks ago Eran went on a temporary sick leave.
Krupik, 69, who is married and the father of two, has served as a director of the bank for 3.5 years. He holds a bachelor's degree in social sciences in economics and political science from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, and a bachelor's degree in law from Tel Aviv University. Previously, Krupik served as CEO of Clal Biotechnology Industries as well as a lecturer at Ben Gurion University of the Negev.
In his role on the Board of Directors of the Bank, Krupik serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors' Strategy and Business Development Committee, as well as a member of the Information Technology and Technology Innovation Committees, Credit, Corporate Governance and Stakeholders, Management and Risk Control, as well as the Bank for Monitoring the Implementation of the Bank's Arrangements with US Authorities.
Bank Hapoalim is the largest bank in Israel, and is a bank without a controlling stake, so the role of the chairman together with the CEO's position are considered to be the most dominant figures in the management of the bank. Dov Kotler, who was appointed to the post a year ago in a long process led by the late Eran, was headed by Bank Hapoalim.
