Histadrut: we will fight to prevent the dismissal of 13 farm workers
Posted on Jun 20, 2020 by Ifi Reporter - Dan Bielski
Just before returning from a leave of absence at the Tel Aviv Beit Halochem administration, most of the farm workers had been summoned before the dismissal.
These are employees who have been on unpaid leave during the last few months, were told that they would return to work during June, but were eventually summoned to the hearing.
The workers, who are not affiliated with the Histadrut, have applied to the Histadrut Tel Aviv-Jaffa area this week for assistance. The people of the area intend to give them legal assistance, including during the hearings, and to take other ways to prevent their dismissal.
These are workers employed in farm work, in the warrior home in the Afeka neighborhood of Tel Aviv, over a period of three years to more than 25 years, and with low wages. They were issued to the UAV in mid-March and were told that they would return to work in early June. After that, the return date to work was updated to 14.6, and eventually they were summoned to hearings before layoffs. The hearings are expected to take place on June 23.
These workers are employed directly in the warrior's house. According to the information provided by the Histadrut, management intends to hire new employees through an external personnel company.
The warrior's handicaps house is operated by the IDF Disabled Organization. In a letter sent today by the legal branch of the Tel Aviv-Yafo trade union division, to heads of the IDF's Disability Organization, it reads, among other things: Because the decision to quit their jobs is tainted by foreign considerations and bad faith. "
It reads: "Most of the workers are adults, aged 50 plus, and some even have personal circumstances (single-parent families, multi-child families and more). On the face of it, you seem to have taken advantage of the Corona crisis, to stop the employment of workers. It is precisely during these difficult times, your duty It is legal and moral to make every effort to avoid dismissing old and dedicated workers. "
Tel Aviv-Yafo chairman of the Histadrut, Gershon Gelman, said: "We will work to prevent these unilateral and unreasonable layoffs and represent all employees at the hearings. We will do everything to prevent an unjustified and unreasonable procedure by the Beit Fighters' administration."
