69% of the unemployed did not return to work - despite the opening of the economy. According to data from the National Insurance Institute, there are currently 738,000 active unemployment claims out of 1,063 million unemployed persons registered in the Corona and pre-epidemic periods.
Data Meaning: Employers are returning workers to work at a slow rate - even though they have already been granted a two-week leave on leave without pay.
Apart from these unemployed, there are another 100,000 recipients of income support who have completed the period of unemployment benefit entitlement and tens of thousands of young unemployed who have not accrued a six-month qualification period and were therefore unable to file a claim.
National Insurance figures show that since the beginning of the Corona crisis (early March onwards), 920,000 applications for Social Security unemployment have been filed. Along with 143,000 pre-Corona applications, the number of unemployed during this period reached 1.063 million. Even after the opening of the economy began on April 19, the wave of unemployment has not been arrested and since 116,000 new unemployment benefit claims have been filed, which are part of the overall figure. Since April 19, only 326,000 people have returned to the workforce, which is about 31%, so there are currently 738,000 active unemployment benefit claims.
