IDF Soldier Killed in Golan Heights Car Accident During Operational Activity

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced today that Sergeant Niv Dayag, 19, a soldier in the 890th Battalion of the Paratroopers Brigade, was killed in a car accident during an operational activity in the Golan Heights.
Three additional soldiers—two from the same battalion and one from the Golan Formation Headquarters (474)—were lightly injured in the incident. They were evacuated to a hospital for medical treatment, and their families have been notified.
Investigation Underway
In response to the tragic event, Central Command Commander Major General Avi Balut and Northern Command Commander Major General Uri Gordin have appointed an investigative team to examine the circumstances surrounding the accident. The team will be led by the Commander of the 11th Brigade, Lieutenant Colonel N.
Community Mourns Loss of Young Soldier
Sergeant Dayag, a resident of Ramat Hasharon, grew up in the Neve Gan neighborhood. He attended Doron Elementary School and Rothberg High School. The Ramat Hasharon Municipality issued a statement expressing its condolences:
"We share in the family's deep sorrow."
Dayag is survived by his parents, Yigal and Ilanit, and his older brother, Dor.
The Sports Channel, where Niv’s brother Dor works as a prompter operator, also paid tribute.
"With great sadness, we announce the death of Niv Dayag, brother of our colleague Dor Dayag. We embrace the family at this difficult time."
