The last phase of the public transportation reform comes today into affect
Posted on Mar 28, 2018 by Ifi Reporter
The last phase of the public transportation reform will come into affect Wednesday March 28th and it includes a reduction of tens of percent in the fare rates offered to passengers using "daily free" or "monthly free" tickets. These tickets will allow unrestricted travel by all means of public transportation - bus, Israel Railways, light rail, matron and soon in service taxis. The reductions will apply in all parts of the country, except for the Arava and Eilat. Tickets will buy free travel between and within metropolitan areas.
This is the last stage of the tariff reform in public transportation, which was launched about two years ago. The first stage included lowering tariffs in the four major metropolitan areas, Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Haifa and Be'er Sheva. In the second stage, which was launched a few months later, the reform was extended to all the cities and towns in Israel. One year after the beginning of the reform VAT was abolished on all urban and interurban rates of transportation.
