Tax authority postponed the VAT payment to small businesses with turnover of up to NIS 1.5 million a year

The tax authority decided this evening to postpone the VAT payment to small businesses with turnover of up to NIS 1.5 million a year (businesses that report and pay once a month), to May 18.
The report for January-February was due on April 27, but has now been postponed again following the Corona crisis. Income tax payments remained due on April 23, as was the VAT payment to large businesses that were required to pay once a month.
41 Knesset members have signed a letter initiated by the Accounting Office asking the Finance Ministry CEO to postpone the March income tax (deductions) and VAT payments required to be paid by April 23 and April 27, respectively, despite the tax authority's opposition.
Last Sunday, a petition was filed by the Accounting Office against the Treasury and the Tax Authority through Attorney Eyal Neiger with weighty arguments regarding the need for a one-month deferral of payments for March.
Accountant Iris Stark, President of the Accounting Office, responded: "I regret that the Treasury is not attuned to business and simply facilitates a significant step. This is not a budgetary expenditure but a point relief. While businesses that have not yet "met" the aid money, there are difficulties in flow and clearly no business from where to pay. "
