Matzah exports in 2017 amounted to about $ 14 million

Matzah exports in 2017 amounted to about $ 14 million, an increase of about 49% in volume compared to 2016, according to data published by the Israel Export Institute in preparation for Passover 2011. Most of the matzot exports are carried out in November-February.

According to the Export Institute, the main target market for matzah exports is the United States, which constitutes about 58% of the total matzot exports and amounted to USD 8 million in 2017, a 105% increase compared to last year.

Other major target markets for export of matzah from Israel are the European Union, France, Italy and the UK, which together account for about one-fifth of all matzah exports. Exports to France rose by about 13% over the previous year to about $ 1 million (about 7% of total exports), exports to Italy decreased by about 7% to approximately $ 880,000 (about 6% of total exports) and exports to Britain Increased by 12% and amounted to a similar export volume. The export of matzah to Canada recorded a sharp increase of 68% compared with the previous year and amounted to about half a million dollars, which constituted about 4% of matzo exports in 2017. Some of the goods exported to this market are intended for the US market, and Canada is in some cases a transit station.
