In the coming days, 20 million eggs are expected to arrive in Israel with flights

In the coming days, 20 million eggs are expected to arrive in flights from several European countries, in an attempt to overcome the shortage that is anticipating Passover. However, the state seems to have been late in worrying about a sufficient amount of eggs, and since the holiday evening is due this Wednesday, it is estimated that the eggs will only arrive during the deadline.
In order to deal with the shortage, lengthy discussions were held with the participation of Finance Minister Moshe Kahlon, Agriculture Minister Tzahi Hanegbi, Director-General of the Ministry of Finance and Agriculture, Shai Babad and Shlomo Ben Eliyahu, Director General of Prime Minister Ronen Peretz and other senior officials at these offices.
The Treasury has responded to the request of the Ministry of Agriculture and the Prime Minister's Office to allocate a special budget for flights that will lead to land eggs during a fast.
The import of eggs into Israel, even when there is a shortage of anticipated holidays, is carried out by sea transport. About 50 million eggs arrived in Israel during March. However, in the past two weeks there has been a serious shortage of eggs in Israel, which is mainly due to the hoarding of the public. A similar shortage exists in other countries, so a situation has arisen that the whole world is fighting the markets to buy as many eggs as possible.
As the public's hoarding has not stopped, further import efforts are needed, and this time in the flight to allow the arrival of eggs in the country within days. To this end, the Treasury has allocated over NIS 10 million, which is intended to subsidize the difference between air transport and cargo transport.
Importers have been authorized to bring eggs in hits from any state that meets our sanitary conditions. The real options are the Netherlands, Italy, Portugal, Spain and Ukraine. Of course, if other countries find that the eggs are not infected with the disease, this is possible. Also, during April, starting on April 5, 6.5 million eggs will arrive in ships from Italy and Ukraine.
The Prime Minister's Office said that "under the direction of the Prime Minister and the Minister of Finance, the Ministry of Finance and Agriculture will subsidize the import of eggs to Israel from Europe, given the shortage created due to the difficulty in importing eggs from Italy and Spain."
