the number of Palestinian workers in Israel has decreased by 30%

Although the construction and infrastructure sectors have been exceeded by emergency regulations and can be worked on in an almost normal format, the collapse of the working hands threatens to delay many projects. Since the closure of the Occupied Territories following the Corona crisis, the number of Palestinian workers has decreased by 30%, and besides, the Palestinian Authority is now calling on those still in Israel to return home for fear of being infected with the Corona virus.
The construction district relies heavily on Palestinian workers, 67,000 in number, and to avoid its return, the government decided that the workers could remain in Israel, provided they did not return to the PA for a period of two months, meaning they would have to stay in Israel. But there are now demands from several directions that could greatly reduce the amount of construction workers and slow down activity in the industry. Apart from the Palestinian Authority, the Coalition for Combating Construction Accidents requires reducing the number of workers on construction sites, and a similar demand is also being heard by residents and mayors in the crowded areas of urban renewal.
Another threat to continued regular activity in the construction industry may come from the direction of urban renewal projects. According to the Ministry of Construction, there are currently about 1,000 active sites of such projects in city centers, and these days of near-closure, with residents staying at home throughout the day, these construction sites can greatly impair their quality of life and provoke neighbors' opposition.
