The Knesset hosted the annual competition for young scientists and developers

The Knesset Science and Technology Committee hosted the final stage of the annual competition for young scientists and developers in Israel. The "Young Scientists and Developers in Israel" competition is a national competition that has been taking place for the past 21 years as part of the National Science Week, where the research and engineering projects carried out by high school students from all over the country have taken place. 57 students - young scientists and developers from around the country presented 40 finalist projects at the Bloomfield Science Museum in Jerusalem. The Science Museum, which has been the subject of the competition over the years, has been submitted 232 research projects in the fields of exact sciences, life sciences and the environment, engineering, natural sciences and mathematics, computer science, social sciences and history.
Science Minister Ofir Akunis said: "My ultimate goal in the Ministry of Science is to make science and technology accessible to all Israeli citizens, mainly youth like you - the future of the State of Israel.
The first place in the competition was won by Ohad Avnery of the Shimon Ben Zvi High School in Givatayim for his work "Elementary Solution for Elementary Numbers" together with Itai Eden from the Jerusalem University High School.
Second place winners: Naomi Bronner of the Israeli Academy of Sciences and Arts in Jerusalem, Hillel Shochat of the Jerusalem University High School and Dvora Rivka Shechtman of Orot Modiin, Modiin Maccabim Reut.
In third place won: Michael Kenan From the Himmelfarb High School in Jerusalem, Lev-Raz Sitton from ORT Givat Ram in Jerusalem and Dan Wankart from the Meir Shfeya Youth Village near Zichron Yaakov.
The winners of the competition received scholarships and some of them represented Israel in the Intel ISEF competition in the USA, in a competition of young scientists and developers of the European Union, and participated in a science camp hosted by the German government.
