Ituran Becomes Main Sponsor of M.K. Otef Darom Basketball Club

Ituran announced the signing of an agreement to become the primary sponsor of the M.K. Otef Darom basketball club, a professional team based in the Gaza Envelope near Kibbutz Magen.

Under the sponsorship deal, the Ituran logo will feature prominently on the team’s home and away uniforms, advertising boards on and off the court, and across the club’s digital assets.

Executives at Ituran emphasized that the sponsorship goes beyond marketing value, describing it as a true partnership rooted in community support.

Following the October 7 attacks, company leaders said they felt a responsibility to take an active role in strengthening the Gaza Envelope communities, helping restore hope and normalcy for residents.

“We want the greatest tension in people’s lives to come from basketball games—not from daily survival,” an Ituran statement said, highlighting the company’s vision of resilience through sport.

The Otef Darom basketball club was founded after the October 2023 events as a symbol of hope and resilience. The team combines young professional players with veterans who chose to relocate to the region, motivated by both career aspirations and a commitment to community revival.

Off the court, the club positions itself as a community hub, using basketball as a tool to inspire the younger generation and attract them to positive frameworks in sports.

Ituran’s Broader Sports Legacy

Ituran is no stranger to community-oriented sports projects. The company has long supported the city of Kiryat Shmona, with company president Izzy Sheratzky also serving as the owner of the local soccer team.

Under Sheratzky’s leadership, the club achieved major successes—including a national championship, a State Cup, and appearances in European competitions—while its youth divisions provide structured training for hundreds of children and teenagers across northern Israel.
