Adam Neumann, founder of WeWork and a former CEO, currently living in Israel, put his Manhattan triplex up for sale for $ 37.5 million. The building is located in the Gramercy neighborhood near Gramercy Park.
In September 2019, WeWork was forced to step down as CEO of WeWork following the company's IPO failure. Neumann's retirement decision came after a series of pressures from the company's central investor Softbank, which wanted to take over the company and carry out a major reorganization that included the appointment of a new CEO as well as massive layoffs Of thousands of workers. Neumann gave up control of the company and any involvement in its activities, but received compensation of $ 1.7 billion.
Newman bought four condos in a 20s apartment building, including a penthouse in 2017, for $ 35 million. The deal marked an upgrade for entrepreneur and his wife, Rebecca Paltrow Newman, co-founder of WeWork, which already owns a townhouse in the Greenwich Village neighborhood, for which they paid $ 10.5 million in 2013.
Unlike the deal they made in Greenwich on their behalf, to purchase the house in Gramercy they chose to blur their identity behind Company Ltd. However, the ambitious building requests filed later, with the aim of renovating the property, confirmed the connection.
Over the past three years, the couple has made dramatic changes at home in Gramercy. They merged the existing penthouse duplex with the entire floor below it to create a three-story apartment.
