Houthi Missile Intercepted Over Central Israel; No Casualties Reported
Posted on Jul 30, 2025 by Ifi Reporter - Dan Bielski
Air raid sirens sounded across central Israel on Tuesday evening following a missile launch from Yemen, marking the latest escalation by the Iranian-backed Houthi rebels. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed the missile was successfully intercepted and reported no injuries or damage.
Sirens were activated in dozens of communities, including the Dan Bloc, the Shephelah, the Yarkon region, Jerusalem, and Samaria. The Magen David Adom (MDA) emergency service confirmed that there were no reports of rocket landings or casualties.
This is the first such incident since last Friday, when a similar missile launch from Yemen triggered alarms in southern Israel, including Arad, Hebron, the northern Negev, the Judean region, and near the Dead Sea. That missile was also intercepted successfully.
IDF Continues Targeted Strikes in Yemen
The missile attack comes despite continued Israeli military operations in Yemen aimed at degrading Houthi capabilities. Under Operation "Long Braid", the IDF carried out airstrikes last Monday targeting the Houthi-controlled port used for launching attacks.
According to an IDF statement, the strikes hit:
-
Engineering equipment attempting to restore damaged port infrastructure
-
Fuel tanks and vessels used for military purposes
-
Additional infrastructure linked to the Houthi military and terrorist operations
“These assets were being used against the State of Israel and commercial maritime traffic in the region,” the IDF said.
Ongoing Houthi Threat Despite Israeli Pressure
Despite Israeli strikes, the Houthis continue to launch missiles, part of what Israeli officials say is a broader regional strategy supported by Iran to destabilize Israeli security and threaten international shipping routes.
The IDF reiterated that it remains on high alert and will continue to respond to threats emanating from Yemen or elsewhere in the region.
