The Ashdod Port Department of the Sea will be under the control of Israel Ports Company

Posted on Dec 9, 2019 by Ifi Reporter

The Ashdod Port Department of the Sea will come under the control of the Israel Ports Company. The Department of the Sea includes the port routers, towed workers and maintenance workers, all responsible for getting in and out of ships off the dock. These are 120 employees whose work directly opposite the Ashdod port will become regional, meaning one that can serve not only the existing port but also the new and private port that will be located there during 2022 for 25 years to hold the Dutch TIL.
Of the 120 employees, Generation A and Generation B, which are about 60 people, will receive a signature grant of NIS 50,000 per employee and an additional salary of 4.3%. As far as Ashdod port is concerned, this is a dramatic one: the port has not yet signed an orderly reform agreement, and only recently appointed a new chief executive who has not yet taken office. Either way, the Department of the Sea is already leaving and moving into a regional work model. Employees express hope that management will not take advantage of the new agreement to free workers who entered the port after formulating the unwritten reform principles.
The Histadrut claims that they are once again proving to be partners in the changes and reforms that keep employees working and at the same time promote moves that the entire economy will benefit from.
Transport Minister Bezalel Smutrich said: "Removing the Sea Departments from the ports and transferring them to the Israel Ports Company is another step in changing the centralized structure of the ports and in promoting competition for the opening of the new ports in 2021.
