Posted on Nov 23, 2019 by Ifi Reporter - Dan Bielski

The Histadrut and OPC Energy have signed a collective agreement that will apply to dozens of the company's power plant, located in the Rotem Plain near Dimona. This is the second renewal agreement and extends the terms of the first agreement signed in the power plant in 2015, and will be valid for four years.
OPC Energy is a public company engaged in the construction and operation of power plants and power generation facilities in Israel. The station in Mishor Rotem produces about 5% of the total electricity consumption in the economy. The employees of the station to which the agreement will apply are employed, inter alia, as operators, technical workers and support, as well as maintenance.
As part of the agreement, employees will benefit from, among other things, an average salary increase of more than 20% per employee during the term of the agreement and annual grants. In addition, 30% of pension benefits for shift workers will be improved, and the quota of vacation days, recovery and selection will be increased. In addition, as part of the agreement, it was stipulated that employees receive scholarships for their children's studies.
Chairman of the Histadrut in the Negev region, Meir Baiboff, said: "We are proud that we have succeeded in creating a unique place like OPC, a continuation agreement for the first agreement signed four years ago. We were able to significantly improve wages and working conditions, much thanks to the members of the committee, led by Jana Breitman. In the future, too, we will continue to borrow this special place that generates electricity in the heart of the desert, with a clear concern for workers' affairs. "
Southern District Manager at the Engineers Association, Adv. Nir Eisenberg: "Despite the long and challenging negotiations, we were able to reach a collective agreement that dramatically improves the conditions of the company's employees. Bringing the agreement to the finish line.
