Approximately 600 construction inspectors in the local amunicipalities will strike today

Posted on Sep 9, 2019 by Ifi Reporter

Approximately 600 construction inspectors in the local  and regional municipalities across the country will begin an overall strike Tuesday. As part of the downtime, the supervisors did not leave the field, do not handle final forms and 4 forms, no telephone answering and no committees will be held.
In the background of the organizational measures, new regulations require supervisors to issue orders and fines for exceptions and construction offenses, and not in legal proceedings. Implementation of the regulations puts the supervisors' personal safety in tangible danger and exposes them to incidents of violence against the population under review. In addition, supervisors are required to wear a uniform, which further increases the danger they face.
Despite the demands of the employee representative to provide the employees with appropriate security arrangements, the authorities and the state refuse to bear the costs required to do so and abdicate their obligation to ensure the safety of their employees. If that is not enough, it has recently been decided to cut the wages of employees with a unilateral decision not to give them a clothing allowance they used to receive for many years.
Last week there were disruptions to the supervisors' work, but now it was decided to extend the measures to an overall strike. This, after the local government and the wage commissioner ordered employers to deduct wages fully from employees who took sanctions.
The Chairman of the Ma'ale Histadrut, Gil Bar-Tal, said: "Employers bothered to pass legislation but abandoned the security of the workers
