Tragic Loss: Sergeant Itai Fogel has been Killed in Southern Gaza

Sergeant Itai Fogel, a 22-year-old tank commander in the 46th Battalion, was killed in action in the southern Gaza Strip. Itai's passing marks a heartbreaking loss for his family and community, coming just weeks after the death of his cousin, Elkana Navon, during an operation in Jenin.

Itai is survived by his parents, Yoav and Yael, and his four younger brothers, making him the eldest sibling in the family. Known for his strong commitment to community service, Itai studied at Yeshivat Nahalim, was a youth leader in Yishuv Yakir, and volunteered with the "Lahoshit Yad" association.

Elhanan Sabati, Chairman of the Yakir Yishuv, expressed deep sorrow, stating, "On the eve of Yom Kippur, our Yishuv suffers its second loss in the war for the existence of the State of Israel. We are pained and shocked and will continue to hug the family."

Tributes from Community Leaders

Rabbi Aharon Cohen, the rabbi of the settlement, remembered Itai as a "guy full of love for Israel, full of Torah, full of bravery." He noted that Itai's life was dedicated to doing good for the people of Israel and the teachings of Torah.

Rabbi Chaim Gantz, head of the Ma'ale Eliyahu Yeshiva, reflected on Itai's dedication to Torah study, emphasizing the community's shared grief and unity in prayer, "Our father, our king, raise the horn of Israel."

Yossi Dagan, head of the Samaria Council, highlighted Itai's values and character, describing him as "one of the best sons of the land." He reassured the community of their support, stating, "We will be by their side in whatever they need."
