Israel Post s launching in Israel debit-cards for teens
Posted on Aug 3, 2019 by Ifi Reporter
Israel Post Company is launching in Israel for the first time shekel and forex recharge cards for teens under 16. Each card can be loaded up to NIS 2,500 a month, even in foreign currencies.
The card, which will be marketed through the Postal Bank, is not linked to a bank account or credit card and is therefore less exposed to theft or fraud. The money is insured, and in the event of theft, it will be returned to the customer.
The card can now be purchased by the youth in their name, by presenting an ID card, in any of the hundreds of post offices in Israel. The cards - from MasterCard or World Visa - look like credit cards and can be recharged in advance (prepaid) for up to NIS 2,500 a month. The cost of issuing the ticket is one-time, NIS 45, and is valid for 5 years.
The Postal Bank will offer teens two types of cards: one from Visa, which can be charged in dollars, and is suitable for overseas travel and online purchases, and the second - a card from MasterCard, which can be recharged in three currencies - NIS, Euro and GBP. For online purchases and use in European countries.
Both types of tickets allow youth to use them in hundreds of thousands of businesses in Israel and around the world, as well as buy online at Israeli and international sites. With the cards you can withdraw cash on vending machines in Israel and abroad, recharge them in cash or credit card branches, and by bank transfer from another account, without having to reach the post offices at all.
The cost of the charge for shekels is 2%, and for foreign currency 1%. Payment in businesses is free of commission, and the balance can be saved on the card for use or for the next trip.
According to Danny Goldstein, CEO of Mail Israel, "The State of Israel is a world leader in online commerce, and we see that the age of online purchasers is declining. The tickets will give teens maximum independence and parents control spending and peace of mind. That way, teens and young people will learn to manage financially wisely and responsibly without spending any extra money. "
A survey conducted by the Israel Post Company in preparation for the ticket launch shows that 92% of teens aged 16-18 usually buy online at least once every two or three months. Acquisitions abroad are twice as much in Israel.
