TAHAL Group of the Kardan NV Group continues to expand its operations in Russia: The group won a tender by the Russian Federal Construction Ministry for the renovation of a biological treatment plant in the city of Ivanovo for NIS 126 million ($ 37 million). Kardan NV announced. The new project is a continuation of the project that TAHAL carried out in the past and which was successfully completed.
As part of the project, which is being funded in cooperation with the World Bank, Tahal will renovate and upgrade for the Russian Federal Construction Office (Minstroy) a biological wastewater treatment facility in Ivanovo, the capital of a district some 400 km north of Moscow, for NIS 126 million The facility will handle 320,000 cubic meters of sewage per day and will become the main center for more than 400,000 residents of the capital. The project will last two years and the first works on the ground will begin immediately.
The facility was designed and constructed in the late 1970s, in accordance with the standards and technologies that existed at the time. TAHAL's first project at the facility, which was successfully completed in 2015, planned and established a process for sludge treatment using anaerobic digestion processes, including the production of bio-gas energy that provides the facility's total electricity consumption. As part of the new project, Tahal will renovate and upgrade the core operation of the facility - the urban wastewater treatment lines of the city of Ivanovo and its environs - and will adapt the facility's activities to standards and technologies for the treatment of current water and wastewater.
In the past two years, TAHAL has been carrying out two additional projects in Russia, totaling NIS 360 million - the construction of a water treatment facility in Yekotsk, financed by the EBRD, and the construction of a water treatment facility in Oran, financed by the World Bank.
This is Tahal's second win in Eastern Europe in recent months, after it won a project to build and upgrade the sewage system in Poti, Georgia, near the Black Sea, for NIS 105 million ($ 30 million).
Saar Bracha, CEO of Tahal Group, said: "2017 was a record year for Tahal's operations in Russia, with unprecedented sales of more than NIS 200 million in existing projects. The year 2018 opens with an expansion of activity with this win, and the new project will allow us to deepen our activity in the Russian market in the next two years. TAHAL's experience and successes in its activities in Eastern Europe in general and in Russia in particular prove themselves - we are working with local teams to bridge the differences in cultures - successfully coping with the challenges of the climate - and this is a follow-up project that best exemplifies the appreciation of the Tahal Group. In 2017, TAHAL won over NIS 2.3 billion in new projects, and in 2018 the group will focus on their successful implementation to the satisfaction of our customers worldwide, alongside the continued development of the activity and the winning of new projects. "
