Histadrut Chairman Arnon Bar-David will convene On Monday the Histadrut's Coordinating and Executing Committee, where its members will be asked to approve a declaration of a labor dispute in the entire public sector against the background of the crisis in the old pension funds. The declaration of the conflict, which will apply to all workplaces in the public sector, will take place in full cooperation and in coordination with the Teachers Union headed by Yaffa Ben-David.
According to the Ministry of Finance's decision, starting this month's pension, the benefit of hundreds of thousands of members of the old pension funds under the arrangement will be severely affected. The significance of the harm - at a rate of 1.259% - is a significant reduction of sums from the pensioners' public, which depend to a considerable extent on the annuity to ensure basic and honorable existence.
Histadrut chairman Arnon Bar-David said, "The Histadrut will not lend a hand and will not allow the injury to the pensioners' population, many of whom are already suffering from low allowances that make it difficult for them to purchase basic food products and medicines. This is the time to show responsibility and social sensitivity to the veteran population that built the country. "
Bar-David added: "Until now, we have acted out of attempts to find a solution that will postpone and prevent the harm to the benefit recipients, but it does not seem that we are facing a desire to put the welfare of pensioners at the top of our priorities. General work that will be valid in all places of work in the public sector - with all that entails. "
Teachers' Union secretary general Yaffa Ben-David said she would not agree to any harm to pensioners' money in old pension funds: "The pensioners' public can not pay the price of the deficit. Alternative and worthy solutions can be found. We intend to embark on a determined struggle until such a solution is found, "she said.
