According to the Ministry of Finance's decision, starting this month's pension, the benefit of hundreds of thousands of members of the old pension funds under the arrangement will be severely affected. The significance of the harm - at a rate of 1.259% - is a significant reduction of sums from the pensioners' public, which depend to a considerable extent on the annuity to ensure basic and honorable existence.
Histadrut chairman Arnon Bar-David said, "The Histadrut will not lend a hand and will not allow the injury to the pensioners' population, many of whom are already suffering from low allowances that make it difficult for them to purchase basic food products and medicines. Teachers' Union secretary general Yaffa Ben-David said she would not agree to any harm to pensioners' money in old pension funds: "The pensioners' public can not pay the price of the deficit.
