The week that will begin today will be less stormy in terms of railway services in the hope that we will not witness any mishaps between Ben-Gurion Airport and Jerusalem. The labor court has ordered to conduct intensive negotiations to resolve the disputes between the employees and the management. In exchange, the workers undertook not to take sanctions and there would be no notifications of sick workers.
The court decided not to cancel labor disputes on the train, but to stop all organizational measures taken by the workers. The management and employees will conduct intensive negotiations by June 1, 2019, in an attempt to resolve the 40 open labor disputes. Both sides must submit an update on the negotiations by May 5.
An agreement with Stadler concerned the training of workers in the maintenance of locomotives; While Ackerstein is intended to help the train to produce rails, the same manufacturing unit that the company can not produce on its own. In both cases, the committee saw this as outsourcing and acted to thwart the agreements.
In recent weeks, relations between the sides have escalated and they have reached Italian strikes and frequent court hearings. The last peak was on Friday, when rail traffic was suspended throughout the country due to the absence of railroad drivers. The board charged the committee with an illegal strike, while the committee claimed that it was a libel. Yesterday a threat of libel was sent to the management. Meanwhile, the Histadrut has set up a commission of inquiry headed by a judge, and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has announced that he will set up a team to limit the right to strike in essential services, such as arbitration.
The train administration said in response: "We are pleased with the court's decision to accept the position of the Railways Administration, which is primarily concerned with maintaining the service provided to the public." The Railways Administration calls on the workers committee to sit at the negotiating table in order to meet the significant challenges facing the company, .
