Yachin Processes 50,000 Tons of Israeli Tomatoes During Peak Harvest Season

Yachin, one of Israel's leading producers of canned tomato products, is processing approximately 50,000 tons of tomatoes during the peak of the country's harvest season, underscoring its central role in Israel's food processing industry.

The company's production facility, located in the Alon Tavor Industrial Zone near Afula, uses exclusively 100% Israeli-grown tomatoes, harvested at peak ripeness and processed under strict quality standards.

Broad Product Portfolio Based on Fresh Israeli Produce

The seasonal harvest supplies the raw material for approximately 28 tomato-based products, manufactured in a variety of formats and processing levels to meet both household and food-service demand.

The product range includes tomato paste, crushed tomatoes, whole peeled tomatoes, diced tomatoes, tomato pulp (passata), as well as sauces for pasta, pizza, shakshuka, and other culinary applications.

Integrated Production Process Ensures Quality

Celebrating nearly 100 years of operation, Yachin attributes its long-standing reputation to its fully integrated production process. The company oversees every stage of manufacturing—from selecting tomato varieties and supervising cultivation through processing and packaging—while producing its products without the use of preservatives.

As part of its ongoing innovation strategy, Yachin has partnered with international nutrition company Lycored to develop a premium tomato product line enriched with naturally occurring lycopene.

According to Yochai Lifshitz, Vice President of Vegetable Operations at Yachin, the new range is produced entirely from 100% Israeli tomatoes grown from a proprietary variety containing approximately 50% more lycopene than conventional tomato varieties.

"The lycopene series reflects Yachin's commitment to innovation while maintaining the highest standards of quality and local agriculture," Lifshitz said.

The product line includes tomato pulp, passata, crushed tomatoes, and tomato paste, offering consumers a broader selection of tomato products naturally enriched with lycopene for everyday cooking.

Supporting Israeli Agriculture Through Local Production

By relying exclusively on Israeli-grown tomatoes and maintaining close cooperation with domestic growers, Yachin continues to strengthen local agriculture while supplying consumers with a wide range of processed tomato products manufactured from fresh seasonal produce.
