A new nationwide survey commissioned by Hadas Water found that approximately 70% of households in Israel now use purified water bars or under-sink water filtration systems.
The survey, conducted by the Geocartography polling institute, included a representative sample of 516 respondents from both the Jewish and Arab sectors across the country.
According to the findings, about 18% of households already using purified water systems own devices specifically adapted for Sabbath observance.
An additional 11% of respondents said they are considering purchasing Sabbath-compatible water bars in the future, reflecting growing demand for products tailored to religious lifestyles.
Among observant consumers, 38% identified Sabbath compatibility as the most important feature when purchasing a water purification system, compared to just 3% among secular respondents.
PRICE REMAINS THE LEADING FACTOR
The survey found that price remains the primary consideration for Israeli consumers purchasing water purification systems, cited by 29% of respondents.
Other leading considerations included:
- Brand reputation — 19%
- Product functions and features — 18%
- Design and size — 14%
- Sabbath compatibility — 11%
- Integrated soda systems — 8%
The data also revealed notable differences between religious and secular consumers.
Among religious and ultra-Orthodox respondents, only 23% said price was the most important factor, compared with 30% among secular consumers.
ISRAEL LEADS GLOBAL WATER BAR MARKET
Udi Simani, CEO of Hadas Water, said the Israeli market is considered one of the world leaders in home water purification systems.
“The Israeli market leads globally in the installation of purified water bars,” Simani said. “Israel is also at the forefront of innovation, design, and quality in this field.”
According to Simani, the Israeli water bar market continues to grow by approximately 3% annually.
SMART HOME AND HEALTH TRENDS DRIVE GROWTH
Industry analysts say the continued expansion of the purified water sector is being driven by several factors, including growing health awareness, rising demand for smart home appliances, and consumer preference for environmentally friendly alternatives to bottled water.
The increasing popularity of Sabbath-compatible systems also reflects the growing influence of customized consumer technology in Israel’s domestic appliance market.
As competition intensifies, manufacturers are increasingly focusing on combining advanced filtration technology with design, convenience, and lifestyle-oriented features tailored to Israel’s diverse population.
