The management of the Azrieli Group’s Palace Ra’anana assisted living home held a special ceremony this week to honor seven residents who took part in a prolonged and unwavering silent protest calling for the return of Israelis kidnapped to Gaza.
For 843 consecutive days, in all weather conditions, the seven residents stood every day at the Ahuza Junction in Ra’anana, holding a silent vigil for the hostages. Their protest continued until today, when the last of the kidnapped, the late Israeli hero Ran Gweily, was returned to Israel.
During the ceremony, each of the seven residents received a certificate of appreciation recognizing their determination, consistency and moral leadership. The certificates honored their daily presence at the junction and their commitment to the cause of bringing home the kidnapped, a stand they maintained without interruption throughout the long months of uncertainty.
“All of Israel is responsible for one another”
In its remarks, the management of Palace Ra’anana emphasized that the residents’ actions embodied the principle of “All of Israel is responsible for one another.” The ceremony highlighted how their quiet, persistent protest became a powerful symbol of solidarity and civic responsibility.
At the conclusion of the event, all residents of the assisted living home rose to their feet and applauded the seven honorees. The moment served as a collective expression of respect and gratitude for their extraordinary dedication, which left a lasting mark on the community and beyond.
