PayPal Acquires Israeli AI Commerce Startup Cymbio to Expand Agentic Commerce Capabilities

Fintech giant PayPal, currently valued at $53 billion, has acquired Israeli startup Cymbio, a company that enables brands to sell products through artificial intelligence platforms such as Microsoft Copilot and Perplexity. The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The acquisition is aimed at strengthening PayPal’s Agentic Commerce offering, which allows AI-driven agents to search, recommend and transact on behalf of consumers.

“The acquisition of Cymbio’s technology and team will strengthen our agent-based commerce capabilities and accelerate the expansion of the service among our merchant audience,” said Michelle Gill, Senior Vice President and Head of PayPal’s Small Business and Financial Services division.

Powering AI-Based Shopping 

Cymbio’s technology will serve as the backbone of PayPal’s Store Sync service, enabling merchants’ product catalogs to appear in AI-powered search and shopping experiences while allowing brands to retain control over pricing, inventory and customer relationships.

Major retailers already using Store Sync include Abercrombie & Fitch, Fabletics and Ashley Furniture, with integrations currently live on Microsoft Copilot and Perplexity.

Founded by Roy Avidor (Co-Founder and CEO), Mor Lavie, and Gilad Zirkel, Cymbio has raised approximately $30 million since inception. Its investors include Corner Ventures, Vertex Ventures, Udi Angel, Yuval Tal (founder of Pioneer), Chris North (former Managing Director at Amazon) and Jeff Weiser (former CMO at Shopify).

The acquisition further deepens PayPal’s presence in Israel’s technology ecosystem and underscores growing interest in AI-driven commerce solutions.
