President Herzog Attends “Or for Families” Ceremony; Donation Announced to Commemorate Fallen of Gaza War

An emotional Hanukkah event was held by the “Or for Families” association, an organization dedicated to bringing light and hope to bereaved families coping with loss amid Israel’s ongoing security challenges. The ceremony was attended by numerous donors and dignitaries, including President Isaac Herzog.

The event focused on strengthening community solidarity and recognizing the resilience of families who lost loved ones in Israel’s recent conflicts, particularly the Iron Swords War.

“A Reminder of Our Collective Responsibility”

Among the speakers was Zuri Dabush, chairman of Klil Industries, who emphasized the broader social responsibility highlighted by the gathering.

“This is a moving and powerful event,” Dabush said. “It reminds us how much our responsibility as a society goes beyond daily routines. For me, it is a great privilege to be both a donor and a professional companion to an association that carries out truly sacred work for bereaved families.”

Donation Announced for Torah Scroll Memorial

During the event, organizers announced a generous donation toward the writing of a Torah scroll in memory of those who fell in the Iron Swords War. The names of all fallen soldiers and victims will be engraved on the Torah scroll’s case.

According to the association, families will be able to submit names for inclusion until December 1, 2025.

Supporting Bereaved Families

The “Or for Families” association provides emotional, communal, and practical support to bereaved families across Israel, aiming to help them cope with loss while fostering remembrance, unity, and hope.

The Hanukkah ceremony underscored the organization’s mission to transform remembrance into light, particularly during a holiday symbolizing resilience and renewal.
