Navin at MWC: application that enables navigation within public buildings

Posted on Feb 27, 2019 by Ifi Reporter - Dan Bielski

Navin is introducing an application that enables navigation within public buildings such as hospitals, malls, universities and shopping centers where GPS reception is lost, and applications such as Google Maps and Waze are not relevant. This makes it possible to locate shops, restaurants, elevators, services, friends, exit gates, and to navigate them on foot instead of conducting tours of the building in search of the desired attraction.
The system was developed by Shai Ronen, a combat navigator who used the technology of fighter jets that do not rely on satellites. Construction of the database of the buildings' route was built by the users themselves. It allows the phone to collect information as the user moves through the space of the building. The information is collected anonymously without the user's information using the sensors of the smartphones. As more people download the app, maps will be more current and accurate.
The application knows how to respond to relevant factors for pedestrians, such as finding the short way even in the case of closed gates, as is the case mainly in the evening or over the weekend. The user will navigate through an open gate and will not have to surround the building to reach the destination, or be surprised that he can not get out. The application provides a solution for navigating high-rise buildings, allowing friends and family to navigate and connect easily to a meeting inside the building without having to call or send messages until they find each other.
Navin was founded by Shai Ronen, who serves as CEO, Lior Ronen, a computer engineer and radio specialist, and serial entrepreneur Gidi Barak, who has raised more than $ 2 million to date and received a grant from the Israel Innovation Authority.
