Intel Grants $5,000 to Each Employee in Israel Amid Challenging Quarter

Posted on Oct 31, 2023 by Ifi Reporter - Dan Bielski

Intel has announced a generous grant of $5,000 for each of its employees in Israel. This announcement was made in a letter issued by Pat Gelsinger, the CEO of Intel Global, expressing his deep gratitude for the dedication and commitment demonstrated by the Israeli workforce.

Gelsinger's letter stated, "I feel enormous appreciation and great pride in the work you do. My heart goes out to you and your family and community on days like this." The grant will be disbursed as part of each employee's salary in the local currency, with the funds set to reach the recipients by the end of November.

In addition to the substantial grant, Intel is further assisting its employees in Israel by providing a $3,000 budget to address their personal needs during these trying times. Notably, other multinational corporations, such as Cisco and Nvidia, have also extended grants to their Israeli employees, underlining the significance of supporting their workforce.

Intel, a major player in the tech industry, employs approximately 12,000 individuals in Israel, with about 4,000 of them working at the Kiryat Gat factory. Despite challenges, the company continues to demonstrate its unwavering commitment to its employees in the region.

The announcement comes in the wake of Intel's third-quarter financial results for 2023. While the chip giant reported a decrease in revenues, which stood at $14.2 billion, marking an 8% decline compared to the same quarter in the previous year, the figures exceeded analysts' expectations. Forecasts had projected revenues of $13.5 billion.

However, the net profit took a significant hit, plummeting by 71% to a mere $300 million, and adjusted earnings per share were reported at 7 cents, contrasting with expectations for adjusted earnings of 21 cents per share. Gelsinger, addressing these financial challenges during a conference call with analysts, expressed confidence in the capabilities of the Intel Israel team to persevere despite the ongoing challenges and uncertainties, including the regional conflict in the south.

In a time when the global tech industry faces unique challenges and uncertainties, Intel's commitment to its Israeli employees stands as a testament to the importance of supporting the workforce during challenging periods.
