Roldin chain raised the prices of donuts: Increase of about 17%
Posted on Nov 16, 2022 by Ifi Reporter
The Roldin chain raised the prices of donuts. A donut filled with strawberry jam has become more expensive by NIS and is now sold for NIS 7 instead of NIS 6 last year - an increase of about 17%.
Four types of donuts filled with salty pretzels, vanilla berries, caramel toffees, and chocolate candies this year replace donuts in the intermediate price range that were sold last year for NIS 10 (coated with chocolate crunch pearls filled with chocolate cream or chocolate pops). Only they are sold this year for NIS 12: a 20% increase in price.
Roldin is also raising prices in the most expensive category, which includes sophisticated donuts with special coatings: from NIS 14 last year to NIS 15 and NIS 16 this year, with three types of donuts at each price. This is a price increase of 7% and 14%.
It seems that only a donut filled with milk jam has not become more expensive and the price remains at 7 shekels. This means that the chain that sold donuts in four price categories last year will be more expensive in three of the categories. The prices in Roldin only climb over the years. For comparison, in 2012 a jam donut was sold for 5 NIS and special donuts for 9.5 NIS. A donut filled with strawberry jam makes up 25% of sales, filled with milk jam - 15%, and the rest: the specials.
Roldin's donuts are a bestseller in a chain that has managed to turn them into a spoken word dessert. The current price increase joins the price increase in Roldin that already happened this year and the price increases that happened in most coffee shop chains. Among other things, Arcafe recently raised prices again after raising the price of its menu at the end of 2021. Now that Tnuva has also raised prices for cafes, pizzerias, confectioneries, restaurants, hotels and offices: another wave of price increases may be coming.
According to the chain, all raw materials have become more expensive, including butter, which has become more expensive from NIS 18 to NIS 28 per kg, and flour, which has become three times more expensive this year, according to the chain. In addition, there is a shortage of workers and employment costs have increased greatly.
