About eight weeks after the end of "Operation Dawn", Finance Minister Avigdor Lieberman signed regulations to compensate businesses for indirect damage caused as a result of the military operation, including in the days before the operation (starting on August 2), when entry to some settlements was prohibited.
Following the Minister's signature, and after the regulations are published in the records, the Tax Authority will open the possibility of submitting online claims for compensation early next week and will publish the online instructions and forms for submitting the claim.
The compensation outline, approved by the finance committee, includes a wage route - compensation of NIS 460 per day for loss of wages paid to workers who live up to 40 km from the Gaza Strip. The outline also includes a red route for the settlements of the book and concessions for workers who live up to 7 km from Gaza, workers with disabilities and parents of children with disabilities.
Due to the unique characteristics of the agricultural sector, a dedicated response is given to those engaged in the agricultural sector located in an area up to 7 km from the Gaza Strip, based on the number of workers in the agricultural area and the proximity of the area to the Gaza Strip. The outline also includes additional compensation for a damaged restaurant, entertainment hall, event garden , cultural and leisure institution, hotel, boarding house, rest house, guest house or tourist site, for damage caused by spoiled raw materials.
Nine days ago, the Finance Committee expanded the list of localities that are entitled to compensation for the evaluation days before Operation "Dawn". These are workers who live in localities where entry and exit were prohibited or movement restrictions were imposed on them in the three days before the operation. The definition of eligibility states that this will include an employee who lives in a locality to which entry and exit are prohibited during the said period, or a locality to which access is restricted.
