The military industry controlled by Elbit, the Israeli arms manufacturer, announced on Sunday that it had won a framework contract worth NIS 1.25 billion from the Israeli Defense Ministry for the supply of ammunition for the IDF.
The contract is for five years and comes as part of the privatization plan of IMI, which was agreed in December 2013. The contract will be implemented in 2026.
This is part of the realization of the IMI privatization agreement and a follow-up agreement to the multi-year agreement signed by the Ministry of Defense in 2016 with IMI Systems. Then it was still under state control and ownership. Last November, Elbit Systems completed the purchase of the arms manufacturer IMI for NIS 1.8 billion.
"Ammunition procurement is part of the implementation of the IMI privatization agreement, which is intended, among other things, to ensure the success of the national move to transfer the company's plants from Ramat Hasharon to the Bekaa level in the Negev," the ministry said in a statement. .
The two orders will be deployed over a decade (2030-2020), during which the company will supply various types of ammunition to the ground forces of the IDF and the various infantry units. Procurement will enable the IDF to complete the replenishment, ensure a supply chain and support the army's procurement plan for the next decade.
The agreement is also expected to ensure economic certainty for the success of the move. The transfer of industrial plants from the Ramat Hasharon complex to Ramat Beka in the Negev.
According to the government decision, IMI is privatized to transfer its plants to the south of the country. The ammunition that will be supplied to the IDF during the next decade will be produced in the new factories in the Negev.
