Traffic Police: 37% increase in enforcement against life-threatening offenses in 2018

The Israel Police has completed a year and publishes the enforcement data for 2018. In the past year, the police have begun to use still cameras to photograph mobile drivers and stationary cameras that change location by means of special positions on roads throughout the country. According to the data, the traffic police changed the mobility mix this year and added 40% of hidden vehicles.
In addition, the number of police officers was increased by 250 policemen. Thus, according to data from the National Traffic Police, there was a 37% increase in enforcement against life-threatening offenses, and in 2018 the police recorded approximately 265,000 reports of offenses defined as life-threatening - compared with 194,000 in 2017. The report on offenses of felony also increased significantly: this is 185,000 reports in 2018 (a total of 185,000 reports).
According to the Israel Police, there has been a significant increase in the number of speeding reports: from 86,000 reports in 2017 to 116,000 in 2018. According to the data, last year police arrested 72,000 drivers who were drunken. A thousand reports - up 14% compared to last year.
