After six flights of El Al Airlines, for which no pilots did not report, were canceled again on Thursday, the El Al management, for the first time since the cancellations began, asked the Labor Court to order the company's pilots to stop the unofficial sanctions they are taking.
According to management, she has been trying to reach an understanding with the pilots for two months, but without success. It will be recalled that EL AL pilots are demanding that their salaries be returned in full to the level of the pre-convalescence agreement. This is despite the fact that according to the agreement, the full wage is expected to return to normal only in 2027.
According to the pilots, the company is recovering, and in addition other sectors of the company have not "suffered" from a wage reduction of 30% similar to the one they experienced. They further claimed that the management of the company had to receive its full salary. At the same time, it should be noted that the pilots 'salaries, which reached tens of thousands of shekels, were the highest in the company, and that the Treasury demanded a reduction in the pilots' salaries as a condition for providing financial assistance from the state to El Al following the corona crisis. To date, the company has received $ 230 million in assistance. In addition, the pilots demand separate representation before the management and the Histadrut, and not as part of the economic employee representation of EL AL employees.
The pilots claimed today that despite all their attempts to hold talks, EL AL management chose to blow up the negotiations.
EL AL pilots do not report for those flights that are not pre-planned, but have been added to the flight schedule in light of the growing demand. This is an existing method of work according to which the company and the pilots have operated for years, with the flights added to the schedule being considered pilots as overtime. Now the pilots claim that they are not committed to the overtime.
