Posted on Dec 12, 2018 by Ifi Reporter - Dan Bielski

The Ministry of Environmental Protection, the Ministry of Energy and the Ministry of Finance, announced the projects in which NIS 84 million  will be awarded for energy efficiency projects and the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.
The grants will be awarded to about 100 projects that offer replacement of old and inefficient energy technologies in new and economical systems, such as indoor and outdoor lighting systems, central air conditioning systems, installation of astronomical clocks, heat pumps and compressed air systems. These projects are expected to generate annual savings of about 170 million kWh, estimated at NIS 85 million.
The grants are expected to leverage investments in the field of energy efficiency and reduction of greenhouse gas emissions in the amount of NIS 420 million. The cumulative GHG reduction of the projects is estimated at 1.4 million tons, which represents an increase of 65% more than the expected reduction from the first stage of the plan.
Eight of the projects that received the grant received an enlarged grant for the first commercial installations of Israeli technological development totaling NIS 18.7 million, which are expected to leverage investments in the field of environmental innovation at a height of NIS 65.5 million.
Local authorities received the highest rate of grants in this round - about 50% of total grants. In addition, about 20% of the grants were given to projects in the field of commerce and services, and the rest - 30% to projects in the field of industry and agriculture.
In 2017, the first round of grants was completed, in which NIS 74 million was allocated to 90 projects, which are expected to generate annual savings of 130 million kWh.
