Teva has reached an agreement with the Texas Attorney General in the opioid case: will pay $ 150 million in cash

Teva has reached an agreement with the Texas Attorney General in the opioid case. The agreement will regulate outside the walls of the court the lawsuits filed by all branches of government in Texas against Teva, in the case of the marketing and distribution policy of narcotic painkillers (opioids) - and without Teva acknowledging any of the lawsuits.
Under the agreement, Teva will pay Texas $ 150 million in cash, over 15 years, and will supply Texas with Narcan at a cost of $ 75 million (wholesale price list price) over 10 years. Narcan, launched in December 2021, is a spray for the treatment of overdose symptoms of narcotic painkillers - such as slowing of breathing and lack of response of the patient.
Teva noted that it is continuing its efforts to reach a nationwide settlement of the 3,500 lawsuits filed against it, even though most opioid manufacturers and distributors have preferred to reach bilateral settlement agreements. This is due to the ongoing delay in formulating the memorandum of principles, which began to be formulated in October 2019, for a nationwide settlement of claims for a binding agreement. Teva and other opioid manufacturers and distributors have been sued claiming that their marketing and distribution policies have fueled the epidemic of narcotic painkillers, which has killed 500,000 Americans in the past 20 years.
