There are still grants for businesses affected by the corona crisis: grants for rental expenses for businesses

Posted on Jan 16, 2022 by Ifi Reporter - Dan Bielski

There are still grants for businesses affected by the corona crisis. The possibility was opened for business owners who were entitled to at least three grants from the Tax Authority during the first year of the Corona crisis, to apply for participation grants for rental expenses for businesses whose activities in 2020 were affected.
This is a grant approved last month by the government, with the possibility of applying for the grant only being available for two months, until March 15. The assistance grant in the rental expenses will be up to a grant ceiling of NIS 120,000.
For the special grant, from the last ones that the government decided to grant, several conditions were set:
* That the businesses received grants for participation in fixed expenses due to a significant decrease of 80% in turnover.
* That the business was harmed as a result of the economic impact of the Corona virus and received at least three fixed-expense participation grants out of five eligibility periods in 2020.
* That the rent paid by the business in 2019 is at least 17% of the business turnover in 2019.
* That the rent paid by the business for the year 2020 is at least 90% of the rent paid in 2019.
* That the turnover of transactions in 2019 is higher than NIS 150,000 and lower than NIS 400 million.
That the average of the participation grants in fixed expenses is less than NIS 1,500 for the eligibility period.
Business opened in 2019 - for the purpose of comparing the expenditure with 2020, they will divide the number of months of activity and multiply by 12. The application for the grant must be made on the website of the Small and Medium Business Authority.
About a month ago, the Ministers of Finance and Economy approved the grant for businesses to assist with rental expenses in 2020 in the amount of NIS 60 million, with the program being financed from the 2021 budget reserve. As part of the "financial assistance program to deal with the consequences of the corona", a fixed expenditure grant was determined by the Tax Authority. This grant is based on the total fixed expenses of the businesses, including rental expenses, property taxes, employees who did not go on unpaid leave.
In the fixed expenses grant, restrictions were set on the amount of the grant and the scope of the fixed expenses for which the grant was given in accordance with the level of turnover of the business. However, for various businesses (such as gyms) the scope of the grant does not affect their fixed expenses, as the rate of their rental expenses is higher than the rate of expenses recognized in the tax authority grant.
For this purpose, it was decided to complete a grant for businesses whose rental expenses exceed 17% of turnover, and that in 2020 these expenses were similar (90% at least) to rental expenses paid in 2019. The grant will be given to businesses that were entitled to at least three grants from the tax authority. At least 80%.
