Yulia Shamalov-Berkovich term as chairman of the Second Authority will not be extended

Posted on Nov 6, 2018 by Ifi Reporter - Dan Bielski

Minister of Communications Ayoub Kara decided not to extend the term of Yulia Shamalov-Berkovich as chairman of the Second Authority, after only a few weeks ago he appointed her for another four years.
In a press release, the Ministry of Communications announced that the Minister had decided to adopt the report of the Ministry of Communications' Director General, Nati Cohen, and not to give Shmalov-Berkovich's name to the appointments committee, Of the merger.
Yulia Shamalov-Berkovich said in response: "I have never been presented with the report in question, and when I accept it, I will respond."
Shmalov-Berkowitz was appointed chairman of the Second Authority Council a year ago, in October 2017, with the resignation of the former chairman, Oh Medzhiborz.
Malmov-Berkovitz's appointment was supposed to reach the Gilor Committee, which is examining and approving senior appointments in government companies, together with 15 new council members to be approved by the committee. The term of the previous council was due to end in October, but it will remain in effect until the new council approves it. After approval, the list is supposed to pass the approval of the government.
The process of selecting the new council was launched in May, and the Ministry of Communications has compiled a list of 15 council members who are supposed to move to the Gilor Committee. As part of the process, the Legal Department is supposed to review all candidates and examine them in legal aspects, and then attach a recommendation to meet the criteria. On the face of it, Shalmov-Berkowitz underwent the process about a year ago, when she joined the Second Authority Council, and there are those who believed that the re-approval of her appointment is only procedural. Moreover, only recently, as stated, did Minister of Communications Ayoub Kara extend her appointment for another four years.
