Israel will participate in the 2018 World Series of Electronic Sports

Posted on Nov 5, 2018 by Ifi Reporter

At the end of the week, the 2018 World Series of Electronic Sports will be launched, with 42 countries competing in the most popular gaming titles in the world. This year, too, the Israeli team will participate in the international competition in Taiwan. This championship is the largest in the ten years of the competition, and will take place against 15,000 spectators who will come to see the games, and hundreds of thousands of viewers will watch the live broadcasts through the various streaming channels.
The Israel Playtika team consists of 11 Israeli champions participating in three different titles. It will represent Israel in Taiwan, and expectations this year are particularly high.
Last year, the Israeli team reached fourth place in the League of Legends championship, and the fifth place in the other clubs.
In the last training game held yesterday at the Playtika offices in Herzliya, the Tekken player and team captain Michael Karkaz played against his counterpart from the Swedish national team in a final friendly match before the two teams met at the World Championship. In the past month there have been other official training games organized by the Association for Competitive Gaming and in cooperation with the electronic sports associations of Russia, Azerbaijan and Namibia. The games were held in all the titles in the world championship: League Off Legends, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS: GO), Tekken 7, when the Israeli team beat all its opponents.
According to Ido Brosh, Chairman of the Competitive Gaming Association in Israel: "As in every year, we are very excited to go to the world championship in competitive gaming and to represent the State of Israel in this industry. Last year we achieved great achievements with an excellent team, this year we are going to the World Championship with a very strong team and excellent veterans. After a crushing victory in all the training games we played against teams from rival countries, I am confident that this year we will achieve even better results than in previous years and bring pride to our country.
Israel is one of the 42 countries to compete, with electronic sports being recognized as an official sport in 27 of them, including in the host country of Taiwan. Israel is not yet one of the countries that allocate electronic sports and sales as a sport.
