Israel Railways has completed another level separation project that allows for the cancellation of the junction of the Mesila road near the Ronit farm in the Sharon area. The project, which will cost NIS 38 million, will improve the safety of all road users, improve the railway service along the coastline where the highest demand is recorded, and reduce traffic congestion in the area.
Israel Railways continues its strategic plan to cancel road junctions for the benefit of increasing the safety of all road users and improving the railway service.
In recent days, a new level separation has been inaugurated near the Ronit farm in the Sharon area, which completely separates the railway track and the road that crosses it. This eliminated the intersection of a railroad road which resulted in damage to the railway service due to burglary incidents to the meeting area that caused train delays. About a year ago, an accident occurred between a train and a car that broke into the meeting area while a train was passing, as a result of which the driver of the car was killed.
Cancellation of the meeting will significantly improve the safety of train passengers and passers-by, will reduce traffic congestion on nearby roads, as well as improve train service on coastlines, where the highest demand for train travel is recorded.
The works carried out by Israel Railways at a cost of NIS 38 million included the construction and assembly of a forty-meter-long, 15-meter-wide steel bridge, as well as the construction of a new one-and-a-half-kilometer-long road, the construction of a new traffic circle, and the relocation and protection of essential infrastructure. Many, including fuel and gas lines, communication cables and more.
In the last decade, more than 60 road and railroad crossings have been closed, as part of the strategic plan to cancel railroad road junctions led by the Ministry of Transportation and the Israel Railways. As part of this, in the last two years, many road junctions in Nitzanim, Karmiel, Kfar Yehoshua, Zichron Yaacov, Kiryat Motzkin and more have been canceled. In the next two years, it is planned to cancel additional meetings on the coastline tracks, including: Shefayim, Maayan Zvi and Dor Nachsholim, as well as additional meetings, Lod, Kfar Chabad and more.
The train mentions that there are still railroad junctions across the country where the most technologically advanced warning and prevention measures are installed. The train points out that despite the many efforts invested in the safety of these encounters, there is no substitute for the discretion of road users, and that caution should be exercised in the vicinity of railway tracks and compliance with the law.
